Update: My Mom’s Doing the Read-a-thon!

April 17, 2009

Woo-hoo! They’ve officially cancelled the bus to her conference tomorrow, so she can stay home and do the read-a-thon with me. :D I’m so excited (I’m always jealous that Debi and Annie do it together). However, the snow storm’s getting a lot worse (her work told everyone to go home), so there might not be any Chex Mix tomorrow. That’s a small price to pay though! ;)

I’m not sure if I’ll be able to harass her into vlogging, but I know she’ll be blogging. :D

I just don’t know if you should do it without the Chex Mix–I know I couldn’t!
That will be pretty cool to do this with your mom! Have fun!

Dude! Is the snow bad? I’m sitting here at work, and my office doesn’t have windows. Maybe I’d better go take a look outside…

Awesome! I tried to convince my little brother to do it with me…but brothers….

I know my mom might be a little intimidated by blogging or vlogging. If your mom is like mine, have her type her posts in a word document so you can post them for her. She might not appreciate all the technology stuff and it will seem like a much lower pressure way, and probably more fun if your mom’s not familiar with it! :D (But if your mom is an awesome tech-savvy person, that’s awesome!!)

The more the merrier, right :-)!

Eva, just had to tell you that your 10 reasons to do the read-a-thon post convinced me to sign up! I’m doing the read-a-thon with my Mum too :-) I think it’ll be great fun and we’re going to give vlogging a go too…

YAY…this is the coolest news I’ve heard all day!!! From the way you talk about your mom, I fell in love with her long ago…I’m so glad she’s going to join us! And I’m especially glad for you…you two will have soooooo much fun! But then you already knew that. :D

    Serena, great! :)

    Obsessed Reader, I’m excited. :D

    Kristina, thanks!

    Nymeth, I’m excited!

    Meghan, I hope so!

Shelley, lol: you’ll be happy to know that my mom did get the stuff for Chex Mic (although she forgot the pretzels), so I won’t be deprived!

Chartroose, you don’t have windows?! That must be tiring! The snow’s stopped for a bit.

Sarah, I don’t have any brothers, but I imagine it’d be difficult to convince them! My mom’s not afraid of technology, fortunately. But she’s not feeling the webcam right now…

    Valerie, definitely!

Annie, I’m so happy you told me that. :D I’ll be cheering you on when I’m up! (I’m going to bed super-early tonight to get ready for tomorrow.)

Debi, I’m excited too! Although when she found out vlogging meant being on video, she proved resistant, lol. I’ll try to convince her! But at least she’ll be doing regular blogging. :D

Does your mom have her own blog or will she be updating here?

  14. April 17, 2009 2:47 pm

If I ever get to read for the Read-a-Thon, it would be fun to have someone to do it with. I can’t wait to hear how your day with your mom goes!

  15. April 17, 2009 3:05 pm

    Oh, that sounds fun!

That’s so exciting!! My mom HATES to read. I can’t tell you how envious I am that you and your mom can sharing this reading moment. I hope she guest blogs. Tell her she already has fans waiting. :P

I’m jealous–that sounds like such a great mother-daughter activity. I’m one of those people who hasn’t been able to commit to even cheerleading for this event, as my kids are too little (and therefore too unpredictable) but I plan to drop in to as many blogs as I can manage. And I’m cheering for you! And you’ve inspired me to make Chex mix, too :)

  18. April 17, 2009 5:22 pm

Yea MOM! So, when I cheer for you – will you tell her SISBOOMBAH as well?!

  19. April 17, 2009 8:04 pm

What fun for you two! I sent my mom the link about the read-a-thon before I realized I couldn’t participate, and she said she be game for October as along as I let her blog too. Of course, she also wants it to only be 12 hours, so I’m not sure how much blogging she’s do.

That is great your mother is able to read a long with you! Too bad about the Chex mix though. That is the best. I am sure your reading is going well!
