Library Loot: July 8-14, 2009

July 8, 2009

library-lootLibrary Loot is a weekly event co-hosted by myself and Marg that encourages bloggers to share the books they’ve checked out from the library. If you’d like to participate, just write up your post-feel free to steal the button-and link it using the Mr. Linky any time during the week. And of course check out what other participants are getting from their libraries!

Want to share your loot?

Here’s mine! I barely got anything this week, because last week’s haul was so big. :D But for the vlog, I’ve combined both weeks, so if you see a book that interests you, be sure to check out last week’s list as well. The video was 11 and a half minutes, so I split it up into two equal parts.

And here’s the covers and links:
rowone
Decline and Fall by Evelyn Waugh (for the Classics Challenge), The White Earth by Andrew McGahan (for the Orbis Terrarum Challenge), The Claudine Novels by Colette (for the GLBT Challenge)

rowtwo
Normal by Amy Bloom (for the GLBT Challenge)

I haven’t read any of those. I do have Waugh’s Scoop, well it’s my brothers but still what his is mine, heh.

Have you seen the film version of Chéri? What did you think of it, if you have seen it.

Your small library batch is my normal library batch. =) I’m always so impressed with how on top of challenges you are, I’ve never managed that!

Your blogs are always fun. =) Normal looks really interesting, looking forward to hearing what you think about it. I felt similarly when I read Scott Pilgrim. I’m planning on reading the rest of the series, because I like to finish everything, but I haven’t gotten around to it.

    Great loot as always! :-D

I can’t wait for you to read Dorian Gray – It really is a great book (and currently being used as my mousemat). I’m thinking of re-reading it for the GLBT challenge too.

    xx

Great videos! Talking about Waugh, do read Brideshead Revisited! It is absolutely brilliant! It’s actually one of my all time favorite books. :)

I hope you like Decline and Fall — it’s one of my very favorite comic novels of all time (though rather dark and snarky!)

You got some really good books from your library. Love the vlog with the mini review of the books. I have a few down that I will check to see if I am able to get from my library.

    Lots of lovely reading!

Really interested in what you think of the Claudine collection. I’ve read that Colette was not fond of the series and thought it the worst of her work. Of course – now that I am searching, the article that was in has disapeared. I have some of her older work and enjoyed it greatly.
