Library Loot: August 14th

August 14, 2015

badge-4Library Loot is a weekly event co-hosted by Claire from The Captive Reader and Linda from Silly Little Mischief that encourages bloggers to share the books they’ve checked out from the library. If you’d like to participate, just write up your post-feel free to steal the button-and link it using the Mr. Linky any time during the week. And of course check out what other participants are getting from their libraries.

My apologies for the lower quality; the video is so long that the nicer quality option exceeded my weekly upload allowance at Vimeo. Consider that your warning! ;)

Lots of good books as usual! Surprised they checked out that book, box and all. Mary Stewart is a comfort read for me too. I will be curious to see what you think about the Delaney book. I’ve only read one Delaney, Babel-17, and it was so long ago that I can’t remember if I liked it or not. I’m guessing it had something to do with language ;)

I know what you mean about closed stacks. I am one of those that likes to do a lot of poking around and even reading right there with the shelves. To me it only makes sense to restrict access to the rarest of the rare… and I’m not surprised they checked that boxed book out to you, even if it is nineteenth century. A lot of that stuff is not so valuable as these things go (just in terms of money anyhow). On the plus side, some of those stacks are amazing from a structural point of view, the old iron multilevel systems… am I a library nerd? At least they’ve got them; the fact that these things aren’t built much anymore means we are throwing a lot more stuff away.

I have Shadow Tag out from the library right now. How did you like it?

Love your Library Loot posts. The book that intrigued me the most was Beloved Sisters and Loving Friends.

Thank you for commenting! For a long while, my health precluded me replying to everyone. Yet I missed the conversation, so I'm now making an effort to reply again. It might take a few days though, and there will be times when I simply can't. Regardless, I always read and value what you say.
