No vlog this week: it’s Thanksgiving and things are a bit crazy around here.

A Striped Armchair 
I handed The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie to at least two people at my library this week. I listened to the audio & loved Flavia de Luce! And I have an aunt who I will always remember gave me The Witch of Blackbird Pond when I was a kid (that and Tuck Everlasting). Great library haul, again! Happy reading & happy Thanksgivng!
Nice stack of books! I’ve read the Witch of Blackbird pond, and was surprised how much I liked it. The others are all new to me.

Happy Thanksgiving! Excellent bunch of books – look forward to hearing your thoughts. :) By the way, if you do not care for Dream Hunters, do not become discouraged about the Sandman and decide that you aren’t going to read Season of Mists! Dream Hunters is not a favorite of mine.
I’m reading Season of Mists next, but I LOVED Dream Hunters! Maybe you read the book w/ the other illustrator?
I remember reading Sir Gawain in high school, but I don’t remember much about it other than really liking it.
I read Like Water for Chocolate this summer, and I’m still not sure what I think about it. I’m interested to hear your thoughts!
I read it for the first time when I was 10, and I’ve loved it ever since! :) This was my second time w/ Like Water for Chocolate, and I liked it a lot more this time around.

Once again a great loot, Eva! I started reading The Elegance of the Hedgehog before my break from blogging. I liked it a lot, but did not have much time for reading during my break. Now I kind of want to read ALL my books at the same time, so, I’m still half way through that book!
Also, I’m looking forward to reading your thoughts on The Vintner’s Luck. I’ve seen the book in a bookstore.

The Witch of Blackbird Pond is one of my favorite reads from childhood. My book club read it a few years ago but I missed the meeting and didn’t get around to reading it. It is on my shelves ready for a reread. Enjoy all the books! Happy Thanksgiving!

I checked out an audio version of that very same translation of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight and it was fantastic. Although I’m sure it is great to read, it is the kind of thing that is so powerful when spoken by someone who can flow with it. If you have an opportunity to experience it on audio, please do. You’ll love it.
I LOVED this translation! I think the audio would be great fun-I’ll check if my library has it. As it is, I read the whole book out loud (was alone in the house).
I’m interested in The Elegance of the Hedgehog and The Sweetness At The Bottom Of The Pie. I’m curious to see what you’ll say about Witch of Blackbird Pond…I didn’t read it until I was an adult, and I didn’t like it too much. I absolutely loved Like Water For Chocolate — both book and movie.
Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie was a lot of fun! :) Like Water for Chocolate is a reread for me (I enjoyed it more this time around, but I still think I prefer the movie)…I loved Witch of Blackbird Pond when I was in elementary school, so I’ll be approaching it from a different angle.

I’ve actually read most of the books in your library loot. I’m amazed! :) Like Water for Chocolate is a great book. I read it years ago in high school because it was required reading and loved it. You’re the second blogger to mention it this week. Maybe it’s time for a re-read.

The Elegance of the Hedgehog always makes my eyes well with tears when I see it. It was the last book before she died that she convinced me to buy…and thus the last point she knew she earned in her big competition with Ana. She just cracked me up with how competitive she was with her “nemesis” Ana (all in fun, of course). Anyway, I haven’t been able to bring myself to read it yet. I so hope you absolutely love it.
I know it was the last book for Dew-that’s why I decided to read it. I’m sure it’s going to be difficult though. :(
