Wow! Eudora Welty has my deepest respects as a writer. Her unique writing style and development of the very human characters in this book are exemplary. I feel as if I am dreamily floating down the sluggish Yazoo River this moment, my only hope being I am hailed and welcomed, even for a brief visit, by the Fairchild clan. Beautifully written, brilliantly choreographed- I look forward to reading more of Eudora Welty.

I have Welty on my list and have not read her yet. Happy reading.

I’m planning to read some Welty soon…I bought a copy of The Optimist’s Daughter when I was in the States.

I read some short stories by Welty way back in high school, but haven’t read her as an adult. I love your description of this book…I’ll give it a try soon!

Thank you for commenting! For a long while, my health precluded me replying to everyone. Yet I missed the conversation, so I'm now making an effort to reply again. It might take a few days though, and there will be times when I simply can't. Regardless, I always read and value what you say.
