My Awesome New Toy

February 7, 2009

Have you guys heard of Wordle, where you can make wordclouds either from text you type in or from a url? And then customise them in a ton of ways! I used my blog url; I think it only uses the ‘front page’ to get the word cloud. Maybe even just the latest post. Here’s the resulting cloud:
My Blog's Wordle
Then I did one using my about page (I find it hilarious that ‘well’ is so big), using some of my favourite colours:
And finally I made one with one of my very favourite poems, Pablo Neruda’s “The Saddest Poem”.
"The Saddest Poem"
Then I had to cut myself off, or I would have probably been there for hours. ;)

  19. February 8, 2009 2:49 pm

Now I am hooked too! They look so cool.

  20. February 9, 2009 3:58 am

Vasilly, glad I’m not the only one hooked!

    Diane, isn’t it? :)

    Sherry, thanks!

    Janet, hehe-good luck!

Staci, no problem! I hope you post yours on your blog!

Raidergirl, I love that typogenerator too. :)

    Maggie, yay!

    Carrie, isn’t it addicting?!

Claire, I used the print screen button (‘PrtSc’-it’s usually hanging out above the number row). This makes a ‘copy’ of your screen, than I opened paint and pasted it. And then I just cropped it to my wordle. I think you can also save them as a file on the site, if you want them available to everyone.

    Andi, thanks!

    Chris, yay! Isn’t it fun?!

Lightheaded, I know-that’s just what we all need, lol.

    Jessica, hope you enjoy it!

Kristen, can’t wait to see yours. :)

    Blacklin, glad you like it!

    Michelle, it’s definitely a time-waster. ;)

Monnibo, isn’t is weird how cool it is, when you stop to think about it?

Sarah, the more addicts the better! hehe ;)

I have played around with Wordle but cannot get results like yours.

  22. February 10, 2009 6:02 pm

Oh no! Just what I need — another time suck! I’m still recovering from my jag. But this looks irresistible.

  23. February 11, 2009 1:42 am

Violette, I spent way too much time playign with them. ;)

Rose, hehe-Free Rice is addictive too!

Thank you for commenting! For a long while, my health precluded me replying to everyone. Yet I missed the conversation, so I'm now making an effort to reply again. It might take a few days though, and there will be times when I simply can't. Regardless, I always read and value what you say.
