Library Loot: February 4-10, 2009
Library Loot is a weekly event co-hosted by myself and Alessandra that encourages bloggers to share the books they’ve checked out from the library. Here’s what I got from the library this week:
From left to right: Nation by Terry Pratchett (because I’ve heard a lot of great things about it), Knitting Lingerie Style by Joan McGowan-Michael(the patterns in here are gorgeous), The Oxford Project by Stephen Bloom (because of Citizen Reader’s review)
So it was another restrained week for me (although I lugged two full bags to return books!)…but next week things will probably get a little crazy again. ;)

I read the review of The Oxford Project, very interesting. Knit lingerie? As in wool and needles? Oh my. I too want to see what you make after reading it-modeling it is optional. Happy reading.
I’ve heard lots of good about Nation, too, and I’ve never read any Terry Pratchett. (Shame on me.) Hope you enjoy it!

The Oxford Project! I had almost forgotten about that book! The Seattle Times did a write up about it a while ago and I added it to my mental TBR list – and forgot! :( Thank for the reminder, Eva!

Knitted lingerie! Looks like an interesting book (I wish I could knit). The Oxford Project looks good, too – I’m going to check to see if my library has that one.
The Oxford Project is also on my tbr list! I think I’m waiting for it from the library. Not like I would get it read anytime soon . . . I’m looking forward to your review of it.
Ooh have fun with the Knitting Lingerie. I’ve always admired that, but my BF’s grandma knits sooooo it might not be the best lingerie for me! hahaha

Looks like you picked up some good ones. I haven’t gone to the library this week *gasp* because I have too many checked out already. I might stop in tomorrow though just to browse. LOL!

I was going to play along this week. I went to the main library in San Luis Obispo on Monday, ready to stock up on audiobooks. And they were closed!!!
Once again, I’m boycotting my library. Well, not intentionally. I wouldn’t boycott them if they were actually open.
Ooo I’ve been wanting to take a look at The Oxford Project. Knitted lingerie … that’s different. I wonder if there’s a crochet one too :P
I own Nation and I still haven’t read it. Soon…someday soon! I forgot about the Oxford Project book. I will have to see if my library has that.
Ooh, I want to read Nation! I saw two versions the other day, so I might want to get the cheaper one. ;P
I’ll be joining in with this just as soon as I can get to the library. At the moment we’re a bit snowed in and although we can get out of the house we can’t get out of the road and it’s too far to walk to the library. I’m feeling deprived!!
I have heard a lot about Terry Pratchett,but I have never read any of his books. One of my friends kindly lent me two of his books, so I look forward to reading them. Hope you enjoy yours too!

Bermuda Onion, there are a ton of tempting patterns, but I’m not sure my skills are up to it yet! We’ll see. :)
Sandra, some of the patterns are lingerie (but they have silk yarn as well as wool, fyi), others are shirts or skirts that are lingerie-inspired.
Melissa, I haven’t read a lot of Terry Pratchett. Other than Good Omens, which he co-wrote with Neil Gaiman, I’ve only read the Wee Free Men series (three books so far).
Darlene, I’m so tempted to make some cashmere lingerie, like Victoria’s Secret had at Christmas! And thanks for playing along. :)

Belle, I’m a newbie knitter myself, so I’m hoping the patterns aren’t tooo complicated.
Jeska, it’s a fast read, because the photos are as important as the text. It is addicting, though, I read it cover-to-cover without noticing time passing.

Melody, I always go with the cheaper one! The one time I regretted it was when I bought the mass market paperback of Susanna Clarke’s novel…the writing is unbelievably tiny.

I just posted mine. I don’t know about that Knitted Lingerie book. To me lingerie should be smooth and silky, not knitted. Let us know how it goes. ;)

That knitting lingerie caught my eye, but after the interesting results of my project for Dewey’s Knit-a-Long, I’m not sure I’m confident enough to try anything more than a rectangle!
