The Graphic Novels Challenge

December 26, 2008

graphic_novel_button21I’m doing the first level of participation, which requires reading 6 books in 2009.

Here’s my pool, which are the ones I didn’t get to during Dewey’s challenge this year (descriptions copied and pasted from that post):

  • Castle Waiting by Linda Medley: Nymeth did enjoy this one, and the drawing style looks just gorgeous
  • .

  • Alice in Sunderland by Brian Talbott: also thanks to Nymeth’s review.
  • Legends in Exile (Fables Vol. 1) by Bill Willingham: Andi’s favourite graphic novel series
  • Cross-X by Joe Miller: um, did I mention I was a debater in high school? I did LD, not CX, and my big love was extemp, but this one still has me curious. and if you have no idea what I just said that’s ok.
  • Fun Home by Alison Bechdel: Emily and Dewey both recommend it.
  • The Adventuress by Audrey Niffenegger: my library doesn’t have Three Incestous Sisters, but has her newer one. Go figure!
  • Season of Mists (Sandman Vol. 4) by Neil Gaiman: this is the only new addition-I’ve now read the first three volumes, and each one has been better than the last. Here’s hoping that trend continues. :)

I completely forgot that Audrey Niffenegger wrote graphic novels! I may need to change my list up a bit… :)

In my opinion the trend does continue! I hope you enjoy all your picks!

You have some phenomenal choices on there. And Nymeth is right; the trend does continue. The seventh volume is my personal favourite, but they’re all wonderful.

you are so brave doing so many challenges!

Thank you for commenting! For a long while, my health precluded me replying to everyone. Yet I missed the conversation, so I'm now making an effort to reply again. It might take a few days though, and there will be times when I simply can't. Regardless, I always read and value what you say.
