Dear Santa,

My friend softdrink wrote you a wonderful letter and suggested that we do the same. I haven’t written you in a little while (thought I think I can hardly be one hundred percent to blame when you never wrote back), but there’s no time like the present!

This December has been pretty much the worst month in a long time, Santa. My fibro wouldn’t loosen its grip: it stayed for over three weeks! And then there was that car accident. But now I’m safe at home, and I have my parents and my wonderful niece, and my sister will be here on Monday. So if you had anything to do with that, or with the group of amazing people who helped me after the accident, I’d like to thank you. And in case you need any last minute gift ideas, here’s what I’d love to find under the tree come Christmas morning:
bookThe Annotated Pride and Prejudice: you know that I’m a nerd, so the fact that this annotated version of one of my favourite books ever is over seven hundred pages long thrills me to the depths of my soul. And the cover is just darling.
Hussein Hadawy’s Arabian Nights: I think that this is definitely the translation I want to read, so of course my library has every other one! And right now there’s a special paperback edition…I don’t know how it’s different from the regular edition, but it does sound extra exciting. ;) And there’s a sequel.
bootsA new pair of boots: you know that since living in Russia, I’ve bought a new pair of boots every winter. This year, I’m not sure I’ll have the money, so it’d be wonderful for them to just appear: I have my eye on either a fierce grey suede pair (19″ tall!) or these sleek and gorgeous tan riding ones.
dressA sweater dress: I’ve been wanting one for awhile now, but the nice ones never seem to fall within my price range. I loooove this one from Anthropologie; it’s so lacy and girley, and I’d feel pretty as a picture in all this chilly weather we’ve been having. And have I mentioned its name? Lantern’s Glow…doesn’t that just remind you of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe? Unfortunately, I don’t have over $200 to spend on one dress, so unless you help me out, I’ll have to cross my fingers it will go on mega-sale.
Finally, Santa, in case you’re feeling extra-generous, an all-expenses paid trip to Istanbul would be magical. There are so many places I want to visit, but Turkey definitely tops the list right now! I wouldn’t turn down a couple weeks in Buenos Aires either, though…especially since it’s summer there.

So, Santa, those are what would make this Christmas extra-fun. But really, even if none of them appear, I’m just happy to have wonderful friends and family to celebrate the season with. So I’ll be leaving out cookies and milk as usual, and carrots and water for the reindeer.

Love,
Eva

I do hope you are feeling better soon — I’ve been out of blogland for a while during the move but wanted to check in on you! Hope Santa brings you those amazing boots and a great book or two!

LOL! Not too much for Ol’ Santa, I’m sure (although I love the boots and the dress, I, of course, would be happy merely with the two books). Hope you’re feeling completely well now and stay that way throughout 2009 (after all, you’re going to need great health to get through all those challenges!).

lol, these are some very to-the-point wishes. Good, Santa won’t have to think hard and long about what to gift you :)

    J., I thought it was fun! :)

Michelle, thank you-I hope so too.

Softdrink, actually, I have no idea what I’m getting for Christmas this year, but I do know Santa ran out of ideas and is willing to go on a shopping spree after Christmas….hehe ;)

Katherine, if I had the kind of money to spend at Anthro, I’m sure I’d spend too much. As it is, I get anthro stuff via ebay. ;)

Chris, thanks! Merry Christmas to you too. :D

Charley, why thank you. I’m excited to see what Santa brings!

Matt, glad you enjoyed it. :) I so want to read Arabian Nights…and soon!

Daphne, thanks so much! And I’m glad you’re finally settling in after your move. :)

Emily, lol, in real life Santa doesn’t spend $500 on me!!! But it’s fun to dream. ;)

Violet, hehe-I thought it’d be more fun with pictures, hence the specificity. :D

CB James, thanks so much. Now that my family’s together, as corny as it sounds, I feel perfectly happy already. :)
