A Striped Armchair

Some Quick Thanks

Posted by: Eva on: September 16, 2008

I should be in bed. Because it’s already 11.40 and I have to be up at 6.00 for my morning class. But I just wanted to say that, although I don’t have the time to participate in BBAW, I’m totally appreciating the lovefest it is so far!!

Specifically, Rebecca and Katrina have both given me BBAW shout-outs; I really look forward to both of them posting, so I feel all warm and tingly that they like me too. ;)

Kool Kidz KlubAlso, that cool cat Chartroose has named me a member of the Kool Kidz Klub! Hehe: how fun is that? The button is hilarious. And the best part is, she’s not exclusive, so if you want to join the club you’re welcome to.

I’d love to do a ‘blogger appreciation post,’ but unless I include every blog I read, I always have to leave someone out. I used to do a ‘You Make My Monday’ award, when I talked about one of the blogs from my blogroll, and I’m not sure why I stopped doing that, but I’m going to start again. And I think there might have to be multiple awardees every time, because there are only so many weeks in the year. ;)

I love reading all of your blogs, even if I’m not commenting as much as usual. I’m still finding a balance, and as I’ve said before, y’all are helping keep me sane! I’m vicariously reading through all of you, hehe. And I have so many friends in the book blogosphere; I almost put quotes around friends, but really I don’t care if it’s geeky and if we’ve never met face to face and probably never will, I think the essential aspects of friendship (support, interest, understanding) are in place. It’s funny how close you can feel to fellow bloggers, isn’t it? Anyway, I really do have to go now. Before I get too sappy for my own good. :p

Nicely put about friends, Eva!

And I think you’ve been doing a great job with your blogging! Hopefully you’ll find a groove that will work well for you as you continue getting settled into this new chapter in your life. Heck, maybe you’ll even be able to squeeze in some “fun” reading, too.

That Kool Kidz Klub button is awesome, isn’t it? My hubby loved it! :-)

I hope you get at least a little sleep!

That was a lovely post, Eva. I haven’t posted on BBAW because I didn’t want to leave anyone out, also.

I feel the same way about posting the BBAW. I don’t want to leave everyone out and so I just leave them as they are–on my blogroll. And everyday I’m adding more blog to it.

I hope you’re fully accustomed to the life of student and in Monterrey! :)

It is true. You do get to feel as if you know all your book blogging buddies just as if you saw them every day.

You’re one of my BFF’s (blogging friends forever)! I swear, i spend more time thinking about you and other bloggers than I do about almost anything. You don’t have to be there to BE THERE, ya’ know!

I’m impressed you’re blogging at all with your busy schedule. In college I don’t think I ever read a single “fun read” in practically the whole time I was there. And I love to read. Sad, huh?

I couldn’t agree with you more on how you feel about Blogger Friends! I’ve certainly met some awesome people along the way. And isn’t it great to be in the cool kids club? lol…Chartroose cracks me up. Hope school’s going good!

Eva ~ You are cordially invited to share a BBAW Chocolate Martini over at Books ‘N Border Collies. Stop on over!

Debi, thank you! I think I’m settling in now, and tonight I’m going to take a reading night just for me. :D

Lezlie, it is definitely awesome!

Bookfool, I’m glad I’m not the only one. :)

Matt, I really need to update my blogroll! And I’m definitely getting into the swing of grad school and the slow rhythm of Monterey. At first I thought it might be too slow, but now that I’m adjusting, I find it quite soothing.

Lisa, isn’t it though?!

Chartroose, lol! It’s funny how addictive blogging is. :D

Kim L, my first couple years of college I barely read either! But then I had a falling out with one of myreally good friends, and that um, gave me some more free time. :p

Chris, she cracks me up too! School’s going pretty well; both more and less busy than I expected.

Lezlie, awesome!

Congratulations on your new membership! It’s always good to be wanted and know it.

Shadow of the Silk Road by Colin Thubron
This is the first book I've read by Thurbon. I love his intellectual, distinctly British tone.
Country of My Skull by Antjie Krog
It's gotten a lot more depressing, but it's the kind of depressing that's necessary. Krog is a journalist and a poet, which I think explains the unusual style. It takes a bit of getting used to, but it's effective.
Portrait of a Lady by Henry James (on CD)
I'm So Mad at Isabel right now. So mad. And annoyed with James; I just don't buy that she'd reject an awesome guy and then accept a horrid one. Hmph.
The Arabian Nights, trans. by Husain Haddawy and The Arabian Nights:a Companion by Robert Irwin
I've stalled on reading the Companion, since it's now full of literary criticism (not my favourite topic), but I'm still enjoying The Nights! I've only got 150 pages left.
Children of the Night ed. by Gloria Naylor
I lost this one for awhile! But I've found it, so I should get back into the stories soon. :)

In Loving Memory
