Quick Check-In

Posted by: Eva on: April 11, 2008

Hey guys! My internet access is super erratic right now, since my entire family is down to one laptop. BUT my own beautiful laptop has risen from the dead and should be ready for pick-up on Tuesday. So after that I’ll be posting very regularly! Woo-hoo!

My birthday was super-fun (despite it *snowing* this morning…in April…): I haven’t celebrated a birthday w/ my family since my seventeenth (I was in college far away for the past four), so I kept it quiet. My niece, mom, and I went up to Denver to drop off my laptop and go spring/summer dress shopping. I got three dresses for my birthday, which was awesome! And it turns out my sister sewed me one as a surprise (she’s an excellent sewer), so I’ll probably have to share a picture when it arrives. No books, because I’m feeling a bit inundated, lol. Then we met my dad for dinner at my favourite cheap-taco place (yummy Mexican goodness), and we rented The Game Plan (you know-that Disney movie with The Rock? I love the Rock-and I make no apologies about it-, and it was a really cute family-friendly movie), which we came home and watched. Oh-and I made pound cake for the first time, and it turned out really well! So not really a bookish day, but I’m going to spend the rest of the night curled up with all of my books. :D Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes-they all made me smile!

I realise I’ve barely caught up on any of my book reviews, but I hope to fix that soon. And if not, c’est la vie!

Happy, happy belated birthday. It sounds like it was the perfect kind of day, despite the snow.

Glad you enjoyed your day!

Yea Computer Being All-Fixed! and what a lovely sister to sew you a dress! Sound like a super day. We look forward to reading your next review(s)… What will it be!?

A belated very Happy Birthday to you. Sounds like a lovely day. You can’t read all the time! (just nearly all the time!)

I don’t think I ever wished you happy birthday, so….happy birthday! :) Glad you had a good day. And I’ll even admit to enjoying The Game Plan, too. I went to see it with my 9 year old cousin because he wanted to go figuring I’d just wait it out so he could have a good time and I could stay at the top of the “good cousin” list, but I enjoyed it. It probably helped, too, that one of the scenes was filmed in one of the restaurants I took my parents to when the visited me when I was living in Boston. There’s nothing like the “I’ve been there!” factor to plug me into a viewing experience. ;-)

Happy Birthday – hooray for feeling inundated with books, isn’t that a great feeling?!

Oh, that really does sound like a wonderful day…glad you enjoyed yourself, Eva!

But hey…we’re still waiting to see that new haircut!

Yay for good birthdays! I need to go Spring clothes shopping. I rarely do dresses, but I could use some springy tops.

Glad you had what sounds like a perfect birthday.

What a great birthday! And not that it’s funny that your whole family is down just one laptop, but it kind of is because I’m in the EXACT same situation…ok, not really funny :p HP by any chance? That’s what we had and they suck!

Hooray for laptops come back from the dead! I know the jubilation you feel. What a great day you had…a memorable birthday to me sure. I look forward to seeing the dresses and what about that haircut pic you promised?

Happy belated birthday!

Happy Birthday. Sounds like it’s been a really good one — books, clothes, and pound cake. What could be better? By the way, I have moved my blog (formerly PfeifferBooknotes) to Booknotes by Lisa at http://booknotesbylisa.blogspot.com if you want to update your blogroll. I just got everything changed over and have been painting all week, so there aren’t any new posts as of yet. But, I start on my new job tomorrow, and I’ll get back into a routine soon.

Happy belated birthday, Eva!
BTW, you’ve received an award. Check out from my blog. ;)

Happy belated birthday.

Just a quick shout-out, I’m still in Hong Kong for interviews…it’s weird to be actually “living” in hometown! Gotta go look for more books as I’ll be running out…. :)

Hahaha! I love The Rock, too. And happy belated birthday! Mwah!

Happy b-day, Eva! It sounds like you had a good one. Mine was on Apr. 4, which means you’re an Aries like me, and it also means that you TOTALLY ROCK!

Hey, happy belated birthday!!! I hope you were treated marvelously! I’m glad you’re getting your laptop back. That in itself is a good birthday present, if not a miracle to boot! Have a wonderful week.

Happy birthday! Hope you enjoy your dresses and having your laptop back :)

I’m glad you had a great birthday! Glad to hear your computer’s getting fixed and you got so many nice gifts. :-)

Happy birthday! Grats on the dresses, movie, and pound cake. Sounds like a wonderful day!

Another Happy Belated Birthday! And I love The Rock, too–he has an excellent face for comedy and great comedic timing!

Happy Very Belated Birthday, Eva. Sounds like a good one. :)

Happy birthday, Eva! And best wishes for your laptop…

Thought I’ve been completely out of the loop. But it seems like you haven’t updated as well. Hope your internet is back on. :)

Andi, thanks! It was, and I can forgive the snow. :)

Dorothy, thank you!

Care, I do have a lovely sister-I’m very blessed! :D

Juxtabook, thank you! And I suppose sometimes the books have to wait. :)

Megan, I’m glad I’m not the only one who liked The Game Plan!! I’ve never been to Boston, but it seems like an interesting place (very cold, though).

Verbivore, book inundation is a great feeling! (and that’s a great phrase!)

Debi, I know, I know-I haven’t been able to make the haircut look as good as the stylist did. *sigh* I’ll work on it, thuogh-I promise!

Andi, I’ve gotten really into dresses over the past couple years-they’re so comfy! But springy tops are a bunch of fun too.

Emily, I did-thanks!

Chris, it is funny, in a bad kind of way! Two of the dead laptops are HP; mine’s a Toshiba. I miss my old Gateway-it worked perfectly for six years.

Deborah, jubilation is a great word! The dress my sister made me has to be altered a bit, so that picture will have to wait. But I’l ltry to get a hair picture soon.

Alisia, thanks!

Lisa, great-I’ll definitely update it! SOrry it took so long.

Melody, thanks-that’s awesome!!

Matt, thanks! Good luck with all of your interviews. :D

Trish, yay another Rock fan!!

Chartroose, lol-Aries totally rock. :D

Carl, thank you! Laptop resurrection is definitely a miracle.

Gentle Reader, thank you!

Kim L, I know-I’m spoiled. :)

Heather, thanks!

JenClair, I’m so glad you love the Rock too. I fe like he’s completely underappreciated, lol.

Nancy, thanks!

Catherine, thanks so much. :D

Matt, I know-my internet died. But I have lots of updates in my head, lol.

[...] On my last birthday I had a quiet, family-filled day. In fact, I blogged about it. [...]
